Ask The Readers: The Future of the Blind Bargains Access Awards
For the past five years, Blind Bargains and its fans have chosen the best and brighest in the industry during the Blind Bargains Access Awards. And now that we've reached a half decade of these awards, we feel it's time to make some changes. Our major goals are to recognize the best products and services without turning the competition into a big popularity contest, a tendency which has increased over the past couple of years. We want to balance the get out the vote movement while maintaining a contest that picks its winners with integrity. So, we're asking you for your input on how to improve the Access Awards. Currently, the process is split into two rounds, an open nomination period where anyone can nominate companies and services and a voting round where up to five nominees in each category are put up for a vote. So what would you do? Or would you keep the current system in place for 2012? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Bose Companion 20 and Bose Soundlink for sale
Bose Companion 20 multimedia speakers for sale I have a set of Bose Companion 20 multimedia speakers that I have replaced with a different system now and would like to sell the Bose for that reason. The set I have are 1 year old and are in absolutely like new condition. They do sound amazing for their size and have plenty of sound output to fill even a large area. A really nice feature is the control puck that can mute or unmute the speakers and control the volume from wherever you would like to place it within the length of its wire. The control puck also has an input and an output jack right on the front of it as well as the input and output jacks on the back of the right speaker. You can easily find more information on these speakers by searching for bose companion 20 on bose.com. I am asking $125.00 for these speakers and would like to use paypal for payment. I would expect the buyer to pay for shipping. I see they are selling used for about $140 on ebay right now. In addition, for $200.00 I would also include the Bose Soundlink version 1. They were purchased at the same time and the Soundlink is also in like new condition. That would be $200.00 to receive both the Companion 20 speakers and the Soundlink. For inquiries or if interested in purchasing, please email mannion.jh(at)gmail.com Of course replacing the (at) with the @ sign. Internet spam bots won't understand that yet.

HW BrailleConnect 40 $2500 or best offer, and PacMate BX420 $350 or best offer.
I have a like-new BrailleConnect 40 up for sale. All cells, keys, and cursor routing buttons function fantastically. This is the 2011 model display, before Humanware ended the BrailleConnect to focus exclusively on the Brailliant line. This display works beautifully with Mac OS 10.8 mountain lion, IOS devices running IOS version 6 and earlier, and most, if not all windows screen readers. I am selling this fantastic display because I need the money to help pay off some bills. I will include the case that ships with the unit, as well as a USB cable, and the charger. I am asking $2500 for this display, but am willing to negotiate the price to $1800 if there is sufficient interest. Also, I have a PacMate BX420 (pre-omni), running the latest firmware to my knowledge, that is looking for a new home. The unit is in good condition, given its age. The cells on the 20 cell display work fine, though they aren't as crisp as they were when new. The keyboard and other keys on the PacMate itself function great, as do both compact flash slots, and the usb port. Included with the unit is the 20 cell display, the charger, and the orriginal carrying case. I am selling this because it is just collecting dust, and it needs a good home. I am asking $350, but as with the BrailleConnect, I am willing to negotiate. If you are interested in either unit, or you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me at: jmcahs@yahoo.com or text me at: 210-882-7443

Braille Lite and Braill n Speak $200
I have two items for sale: A Braille n' Speak, barely used and still has its original leather case, and a Braille Lite. I used the Braille Lite briefly in college, the Braille n' Speak was used maybe 5-6 times total in its entire life. Neither of them have been turned on for a couple of years, and I lost both chargers in my last move. But as far as I know, they are both in good working condition. I will sell either of them for $110 each or I'll take $200 for both of them, plus the leather case. email me at niconak@gmail.com if you want either or both of these items.

I have a nearly new, Asus Zenbook UX31E-DH72 for sale. This is a direct and worthy competitor to the Apple Macbook Air. It is less than 6 months old. I'm only selling it because I need the money right now. This computer works perfectly, and is still covered by both the factory and extended warranties. It comes with an instruction manual, warranty book, a laptop case, wall charger, a USB Ethernet Adapter, a USB VGA Adapter and a cary case for those two adaptors. Software wise, this laptop comes preloaded with Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64 BIT), AVG antivirus 2012, and both the Internet Explorer and Firefox web browsers for a fast and safe computing experience. Power Braille 40 looking for a new home
I have a power braille 40 in excellent shape. Unfortunately, my new PC doesn't come with a serial card and JAWS doesn't speek to it past version 10. Willing to let this go for next to nothing as I'd rather see it used than sitting in a box on a shelf in my office. Asking $100, plus shipping.

It has the same features as its predecessor but with newly designed controls and other improvements including a sturdier clip and a better FM chip. After running this player through its paces, I'm really impressed with the changes and upgrades they made on this latest addition to the Clip line of players. We offer mainstream Sansa MP3 Players which we've modified into Talking MP3 Players enabling blind/vision-impaired individuals to use them without sighted assistance. They don't require any music management software, have accessible talking menus, and are fairly priced. Our players arrive fully set up and speaking, and you can use your choice of the included utilities to enable the speaking of your own folders and files. To listen to a presentation done using a Clip+, visit http://www.talkingmp3players.com/demo.html Our players include these great features: Play most popular non-protected file types, fully accessible FM Radio with many presets, record from radio or voice notes with built-in mono mic, expandable up to an extra 64GB with microSD cards, speed up or slow down tracks without affecting pitch, wake up alarm and sleep timer, compatible with Windows, MAC, and Linux operating systems, just copy and paste folders and files onto the player or memory card, outstanding sound, plus much more!
